Meet the Photographer

In this turbulent world, I want to share the wonders of nature that inspire humility, the intricacies of flowers that evoke awe, and informal portraits that help us recognize our common humanity. The son of Mennonite parents and one set of Amish grandparents, I inherited messages that created personal tension. One, artistic skill has little functional value. Two, slow down and appreciate what you have. And there was a third lesson - share what you have for the benefit of others.

Whether my photos have artistic value is for you to determine. What I know is that when I slow down and pay close attention, it is, as photographer Menka Sanghvi notes, “the necessary first step to feeling connected to strangers and to the wider web of life.”

So I share what I see, hoping you will be drawn into places of peace in your community and our world, finding connections in unexpected places.
